In response to our staff’s desire to learn or relearn Tahitian and our guests’ growing desire to discover Polynesia’s linguistic wealth, InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa and Intercontinental Bora Bora Le Moana Resort have taken the initiative of creating the Parau ‘ōhie app.

“It was our encounter with e-reo, a Tahitian language learning platform, and our cultural commitment, that led us to start this exciting project,” says our Regional CSR Manager for InterContinental® Resorts French Polynesia. “We’re delighted to offer our guests a new dimension to their Polynesian experience, allowing them to discover the Tahitian language and immerse themselves in local life.”

“Parau ‘ōhie” is much more than just a language app. In addition to a games section and an online glossary that helps users learn the meanings and pronunciations of new words and expressions, the app offers a complete immersion in Polynesian culture. Users have access to practical information about cultural events organized by the InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa and the InterContinental Bora Bora Le Moana Resort, as well as information about the local flora and fauna.

Our goals are clear:

• To invite all our customers and partners to download this application before their trip, so that they can start their Polynesian adventure even before arriving in the territory.

• To engage with our staff encouraging them to make learning the Tahitian language fun.

This application will serve as a guide throughout guests’ stay, allowing them to exchange a few words in Tahitian and discover the wealth of local flora and fauna. It will also be a valuable training tool for our staff, helping them to deepen their knowledge of the Tahitian language and the hotel’s cultural and natural heritage.

“Parau ‘ōhie” is now available for download.
